Seattle Mariners

Seattle Sports Teams

The Seattle Mariners are a professional baseball team in MLB, competing in the American League West division. They became an expansion team in 1977, initially playing home games in the Kingdome, and later moving to T-Mobile Park in July 1999. The team's name, "Mariners," reflects Seattle's maritime culture. They are often called the "M's" and have adopted navy blue, northwest green, and silver as their team colors since 1993, though their original royal blue and gold colors are still used in alternate uniforms. Their mascot is the Mariner Moose.

The Mariners have had a mixed history in terms of on-field success, marked by some remarkable seasons. One of their standout years was in 2001 when they tied the MLB record for most wins in a single season with 116 victories. Led by stars like Ichiro Suzuki, Edgar Martinez, and pitchers like Freddy Garcia and Jamie Moyer, that team remains one of the most memorable in Mariners history. Despite their storied moments, the team has faced challenges in clinching a World Series title, which has eluded them since their inception. Nevertheless, the Mariners have continued to evolve, nurturing young talent and remaining a competitive force in the American League. With a loyal fanbase known for its passion and the stunning backdrop of T-Mobile Park, the Mariners remain an integral part of Seattle's sports culture.
